List Submission deadline - April 2nd, 2018

Hey everyone,

The list submission deadline for this years event is April 2nd at 23:59. Teams that submit there lists after this date will be subject to a penalty on there overall score so make sure that you get them in on time.

1. Each Army list MUST mention which model will be the Warlord. If your Warlord is a charac-ter, assign a warlord trait to him, or indicate you will roll-off every battle. Add text as a subfix behind the unit's point value as follows – WARLORD (Tenacious Survivor).
2. Each Army list MUST mention which basic psychic powers have been assigned to the models or if they will be generated freely each round. The same goes for chapter relics if they are cho-sen for models. Those that will be generated by CP prior to a battle need not be mentioned on the armylist. Chosen chapter relics cannot be changed during battles and remain fixed through-out the tournament.
3. Each Team Roster must include all the necessary info, meaning player names with the correct army, and clearly indicate what detachments are taken and how many command points each detachment provides to the player, and all other relevant information for your opponent. In the case of Space Marines for instance, it needs to be mentioned which Chapter you are playing, in the case of the Mechanicus, the Forgeworld, and so on... In the case of cross-faction detachments, each entry needs to be succeeded by their faction or chapter denomination. For in-stance - Troops1: Harlequin troupe <Ynnari>. The overall Army Faction of a roster is always de-fined by the common keyword of the army.
4. Team Rosters need to indicate if a coach/assistant spot is filled by the Team.
5. Detachments from a list are separated by double "==" and always mention how many Command Points the detachment brings to the army. A total CP number shall be listed on the armyl-ist as well.
6. All upgrades and options must be shown on any given unit except those that come as standard on the model and cost zero points. Any wargear that is chosen (whether it costs points or free) must be listed.
7. List transports together with the unit entries they were bought for.
8. Upgrades to specific models in a complex unit are indicated per model
9. Players opting to keep summoning points in reserve need to indicate so clearly, and how many points are available, on their army roster
NOTE: It is perfectly fine to simplify the list outline below for detachments that are not complex. You can skip noting down all the cratfworld/hivefleet/forgeworld notations and such if there can be no confusion in your list. It would be perfectly fine to state the Detachment is Biel-Tan in the Detachment header instead of repeating the craftworld notification for each unit for instance.

Latest ETC vote


The ETC voted and here is the basics of the comp for 2018:

SECTION 1: ETC Rulespack votes

Question1: Do we change the proceedings at the start of the game , rolling off for sides rather than choosing sides?

A. Yes, change the proceedings to include a roll-off for sides after placing objectives

Question2: Do you want to have a roll to seize or do you want to discard that roll?

A. Yes, keep the roll to seize

Question 3 has become Null as a result.

"Question4: Would you like to see No Mercy(kill points) as a freestanding mission or incorporated into every mission?

B - Incorporated into every mission as a "kill points differential"

Queston5: At what limit would you like this differential if Q4-B is voted for?

A - 6 pts total

Question6: Should forgeworld indexes and codices be allowed in ETC?

B. No

Question7: Do we use flowchart from Designer's Commentary? (Please vote for all the options, for example A>C>B or C>A=B)

C - No, when a codex is released their index options become invalid.

SECTION 2: Issues with ETC Organisation Implications

"Question8: Do we keep the table layout as in past ETC's, with 2 tables being dense, 4 mediocre filled tables,

and 2 light tables per row, or do we apply a more even distribution of terrain?"

A. Keep the 2/4/2 rule to give a distinctive advantage to defenders being able to choose their tables

SECTION 3: ETC Army Comp

Question10: Can detachments be duplicated within a player's army list? (Please vote for all the options, for example A>C>B or C>A=B)

C - Not a single detachment can be duplicated within an army

Question11: Do we limit the usage of the number of detachments at the ETC?

A. Yes

Question12: What number of detachments? (Please vote for all the options, for example A>C>B or C>A=B)

B. 3

Question13: Do we want to limit the usage of the datasheets with the same name to 3 per army/player?

B. No

"Question15: What do we do with factions like the ASTRA TELEPATHICA from the Index. They are tied into an army that now has a standalone codex.

Do we keep on using them as a seperate faction for ETC purposes?"

B. No, they cannot be used as a seperate faction

CHTT Save the Date - April 28-29th


We are still working out details for CHTT 2018.  All I can tell you is that it is on April 28-29, 2018.  The teams will be upped to 5 players and the venue will be the same.  Registration opens in Jan so see the registration page for more info.

Canhammer 2017 is in the books. It was another fantastic year and hopefully with 8th edition on the horizon we look forward to doing it again.

I am exhausted from the weekend so will post a more in depth analysis later but for now, the winners were....

Slow play and more last minute rulings.

We are ruling that screamers do not have wings.  The tails are the only part that do not count for LOS.

Also there will be no instances where a model (mainly a knight titan) can shoot an enemy model but not be shot in return.  This does not apply to stuff that moves after it shoots.  This is just to stop some abuse.


Each team has 3 hours per round to finish everything so be aware of time.
